Summer Beauty Care with Water Melon

Water Melons are all available in this season. Enjoy the benefits of watermelons to keep your skin fresh in this summer.





Make juice of water melon and keep in ice tray in your fridge. Coming back home from outside, wash your face with a face wash suitable for your skin (In summer, it is better to use a face wash that removes oil). Take a water melon ice cube and gently rub all over your face and neck. Leave for ten minutes and rinse off with plain water.

You may do the same using cucumber or potato. 


Benefits:

Removes sun tan and refreshes your skin.

Honey-Cinnamon Scrub



Ingredients:

  • Honey- 4 teaspoons.
  • Cinnamon- 1 piece of around 3 cm long/ 1 teaspoon of powdered cinnamon.
  • Sugar- 2 teaspoons.



Put the Cinnamon piece in blender and make powder of it (Do not mix any water, it needs to be dry). Mix the other ingredients with Cinnamon powder and make a paste. Store the paste in an air tight container in your fridge. It can be stored for one week.

Use the scrub twice a week.



Benefits:

Helps get out of dead cells. The scrub is not only good for your skin but also refreshes your mind.





Honey-Sandalwood Mask



Ingredients:

  • Honey- 3 teaspoons.
  • Sandalwood Powder- 1 teaspoon.



Mix the ingredients together. Apply all over your face and relax for 20 minutes. If the pack gets dry on skin, gently massage with normal water and then rinse off.

Use the mask twice a week.



Benefits:

Brightens and softens skin.  Also the mask is very refreshing and soothing.

Benefits of Oilve Oil


  • If your nails are tender and break frequently, apply Olive Oil and massage gently before bed every night. It would help hardening the nails.
  • For cracked heels, after scrubbing your heels, apply Olive Oil and massage gently. Also use it every night before going to bed. It would heal your cracks in just 7 days.
  • For dark circles or puffy eyes, mix half tea spoon of Olive Oil with two vitamin E capsules. Before going to bed wash your face and then apply the oil mix around your eyes in circular movements. This helps reducing dark circles and puffy eyes.
  • To get rid of stretch marks, gently massage Olive Oil for ten minutes in the affected areas twice a day. It helps reducing stretch marks. 
  • If you have dry skin, massage Olive Oil before bath. It would reduce dryness of your skin specially knee, arm and elbow areas.

Use the following sandal wood pack thrice a week for a bright glowing skin. This aroma pack also refreshes your mind.

Ingredients:
·         Sandal Wood Powder– 3 tablespoons
·         Rose Water- 3 tablespoons

Mix the ingredients and make a paste. Apply all over your face and neck. The pack is very suitable for applying on your hands and feet too.  Leave it for 20 minutes. When the pack gets dry, massage with water for 5 minutes and rinse off.




For Treating Tan


Try the following mask once every day until tan is removed.

Ingredients:
·         Sandal Wood Powder– 3 tablespoons
·         Cucumber Juice- 3 tablespoons

The pack is very suitable for applying on your hands and feet too.  Leave it for 15 minutes (Don’t let the pack get dry). Massage with normal water for 5-10 minutes and rinse off.  Wipe off and apply a moisturizer.

Beauty Care with Turmeric

Treating Oily Skin:


If your skin is oily try the following mask twice/thrice a week to have an oil free smooth skin.

Ingredients:

  • Sandalwood Powder- 2 tablespoons
  • Turmeric Powder- Half tablespoon
  • Rose Water- as needed


Mix sandalwood powder and turmeric powder with rose water. Apply all over your face and leave for 15-20 minutes. Gently massage with lukewarm water for 5 minutes and rinse off.

 


Treating Dry Skin:


For dry skin use the following mask twice/thrice a week:

Ingredients:

  • Turmeric Powder- Half tablespoon
  • Olive Oil- Half tablespoon
  • Egg White- From 1 Egg


Mix the ingredients together and apply on your face. You may apply the pack on other dry parts (e.g. elbow, knee, heel)of your body too. Leave for 15-20 minutes. Gently massage with lukewarm water for 5 minutes and rinse off.

Remove Spots and Marks from Skin



Follow the steps to have spots and marks free glowing skin:


  • Take at least 2.5 liters of water every day. This helps growth of new cells.


  • Apply honey on affected areas and massage well with a little water once daily. The anti-oxidant property of honey helps in removing spots and marks.

  • Take two vitamin E capsules. Pierce them with a pin and bring out the oil. Before going to bed, wash the affected areas of your skin with a mild face wash and apply the vitamin E oil. Rinse off in the next morning.

  • Apply banana paste on affected areas once daily.  

  • Massage helps removing marks and spots. 


Winter Masks



Milk/Plain Yogurt

Apply plain yogurt or milk on your face and relax for 15-20 minutes. Rinse off with lukewarm water. 

You may use powder milk too. Add 1 tablespoon of warm water to 2 tablespoons of powder milk, make a paste and use it. 
Benefits: This mask softens and protects skin from dryness/dullness.


Egg White

Beat an egg white and apply on your face. Relax for 20 minutes. Gently massage with lukewarm water when the mask gets dry and then rinse off.

Feet Care in Winter- Home Pedicure


Try the Home Pedicure once a week to keep your feet look fresh in this winter.



  • Remove your nail polish with an herbal nail polish remover or one that you prefer.
  • In a tub and add some bath salts and mild soap/shampoo in lukewarm water. Soak your feet in warm water for 5 to 10 minutes.
  • Scrub the heels of your feet with a pumice stone or a foot scrub available in market. You may prepare your foot scrub at home as the recipe here.  
  •   Take one foot out of the water at a time and wipe around each nail with a dry clean towel. 
  • Trim your nails and file them (It is suggested not to cut them too short).   
  • Gently clean dirt from under each nail.
  • If your toenails are yellow, take a lemon slice and rub over your nails for 10 minutes. 
  •  Get a foot massage cream or oil and massage up to knee for 10 minutes and wipe out. You may use olive oil too. 
  •   Apply a feet pack and leave for 10 minutes. You may prepare your foot mask/pack at home as the recipe here.
  •   Wash your feet with lukewarm water and wipe out cream or oil with a towel. 
  •   When your feet is dry, apply a coat of natural colour/ clear nail polish.  Let it dry and then apply one coat of your selected nail polish. Let dry. Then apply another coat.
  • Your pedicure is done.
  • To keep the effects of the pedicure and make you feet look fresh, moisturize your feet daily.
